Dr. Gillian Vogelsang-Eastwood (PhD Manchester 1988) is director of the Textile Research Centre (TRC), Leiden. She is by profession a textile and dress historian and worked for many years as a textile archaeologist in the Middle East. She has published widely on the subject of textiles and dress. She is also senior author and editor of the 8-volume Bloomsbury’s World Encyclopedia of Embroidery (London), the first volume of which (2016) won the prestigious Dartmouth Medal in 2017.
